plans to achieve its aims by developing as:

Clearing House for information
through developing an information archive about
organizations, networks, strategies, legislation, legal test cases,
literature and events.
An
Advocacy Force to promote the
situation and status of widows by: Using Network links
to promote the status of widows' issues on the agenda of human rights,womens
and development organizations; ensuring representation of widows'
issues at regional and international events.
A
Networking Centre by establishing
a database of information about relevant national and
international NGOs, networks, widows groups, academics, planners,
practitioners and lobbyists.
A
facilitator of Exchanges of Experience
between Southern grass-roots organizations.
A
processor of information from grass-roots organizations for the
UN Special Rapporteur on the Elimination
of Violence to Women.
The
initiator of Widows' Law File .

...In order to carry out the above
EWD has developed links with legal, women's and welfare organizations
in numerous developing countries in Africa and South Asia and
is making ocntacts in other countries. EWD also collaborating
with many international organizations, including the following:
Anti-Slavery International; UNHCR; the International Federation
of Women Lawyers (FIDA); the Commonwealth Secretariat; the Population
Council; the International Planned Parenthood Federation; the
British Refugee Council; Save the Children Fund;
